About Us
This website was started in 2009 as a resource for women who seek a balanced and educated relationship with their money. Our goal for all women is financial security and the freedom of choices it brings.
As women often feel more comfortable learning from female professionals, we have established this W2W (women to women) place to explore, learn and share. Most of our original content is from women in financial-related fields, but we'll also include resources from the web.
We like to explain the world of finance using some references to food, fun, and fashion, so we hope it's more interesting for you too!
The Silver Purse offers principles of good financial planning. The advice offered here is general in nature and may not fit your situation. Seek qualified help to address your specific questions or needs.
Robin Applegarth founded The Silver Purse. She is a financial literacy advocate, with a B.A. from the University of California, Riverside, and a certificate in Personal Financial Planning from UCR. She is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor ®.
Robin enjoys the challenge of investing and retirement planning. She is passionate about helping women get "money literate" and build the resources to reach their goals.
She lives in the mountains of Southern California with her husband of 32 years and their dog Louie. Robin started investing in her 20s, with college funds for her 2 children. Her investing success led to a plump college fund that paid for 2 college degrees at private universities.
She is now focused on helping people (especially women) build retirement funds that provide for a secure and abundant future. Want to know how to do that for yourself? Join our email list at the silver purse above.
Robin's personal finance articles have been featured at Wisebread.com, DivineCaroline.com, TheDollarStretcher.com, EzineArticles.com, and other places. The Silver Purse was chosen as a "Cool New Friend" by the Women's Institute for Financial Education.
Are you a financial professional or a promoter of financial literacy?
